I just wish they found a more equitable way of doing that. The original active recall testing via spaced repetition app. But overall, I’m OK with paying towards a suite of programs I find useful. Personally I think it is a pity the Anki developers use the IOS app, AnkiMobile, as their only cash generator because it is inevitably going to push iPhone users towards the more reasonably priced AnkiApp and it makes it feel like they just despise iPhone users. ![]() I find it convenient to keep some minor decks on AnkiApp and my main one on Anki/AnkiMobile. Also Anki is open source so it’s not suddenly going to go subscription based or disappear - I don’t know about the Ankiapp developers. But overall I prefer AnkiMobile because I create cards on the computer using some really useful add-ons and I don’t like adding cards etc on my phone. I think personally that AnkiApp has a somewhat more attractive interface ‘as it comes’ and is easier if you just want to use it from your phone and not use your computer to sync and set things up. So you don’t get the portability of being able to sync everything between devices via Ankiweb and you can’t use all the addons that Anki has that can be used on the computer version. AnkiApp is a separate entity, as explained in the automod post above. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns. While discussing AnkiApp is not against the rules of this subreddit, you are unlikely to find people who will be able to help you with its use here. In copying its name the developers were most likely trying to take advantage of the brand recognition Anki had built up, confusing new users ever since. Rather, it was developed by a different group of people years after Anki had been established as the leading open-source spaced-repetition flashcard app. As confusing as this might sound, AnkiApp is not part of the official Anki ecosystem of apps and services. It looks like you are asking a question about AnkiApp. Users that routinely delete their posts once they receive an answer might be excluded from participating on the sub.
